Jennie Powers: The Woman Who Dares

On Wednesday September 6, at the Windham Senior Center, Jenna Carroll presented a very interesting program about Jennie Powers, who lived and worked as a deputy sheriff in the Keene area during the early twentieth century. She used her camera to document animal cruelty, family violence and wide-spread poverty. In 1906, the Boston Post claimed she had arrested more men than any other woman in America. This fascinating program was made possible with the support of the New Hampshire Humanities.
